Maybe rather than showing the brutality of the old west, this film is merely showing the brutality of the director’s imagination. The John Wayne’s of the old genre may have over-romanticized it, but you don’t repair that by over-brutalizing it.
The portrayal of Native Americans in this one sounds like enough to make me pass on it. Thank you for describing it well enough that I know that I have no interest in it.
